German International Final Partners
Hosting a WRO World Final is a big project and for a non-profit organisation it requires the help of many partners. We are therefore very pleased to have the support of various partners from business, civil society and politics. And of course the city of Dortmund and the Messe Dortmund as the venue are important partners of our project.
All partners support our motivation to host the International Final in Germany and, in the process, to get even more children and young people excited about technology. That's why the International will also feature a MINT side activity program for schools in Germany. In addition, we have been working to establish more WRO regional tournaments and to help schools getting started with robotics over the last few years.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, we faced the challenge of having to postpone the International Final for a year. It's great that all partners stayed on board - that is not self-evident and shows their commitment.
We would like to thank all our partners support the International Final 2022 in Germany!

The robotic story of partnership by IBM,
volunteers and our NGO in Germany
In 2008, Peter Kusterer had just started as the IBM citizenship manager in Germany when a high school student named Markus Fleige asked him, and several other corporations, to pay the costs for this team to attend a robotics championship in the United States. The team wasn't eligible for an IBM grant, so it did not seem like the start of a beautiful realationship.
However, four years later (in 2012), Markus and Peter started working together to help thousands of young people throughout Germany participate in the World Robot Olympiad - enabled by volunteers from IBM and others. IBM has been the major partner in the growth phase of WRO in Germany and is one key partner for the International Final in Germany.
Today, Peter passed the baton to his successor and supports as one of many volunteers. "Education is one of the topics to which IBM is committed as part of its social engagement. On the one hand, the WRO World Final is an international event. This also reflects our position as a company that is active in 150 countries around the world. The WRO World Final is the flagship event where the WRO community demonstrates how STEM education can be made attractive and effective for children and young people. We are proud to be part of this story.", says Matthias Dietel, Manager Corporate Social Responsibility.
